Qur'anic Verses on Mercy (51–60)

 51 Surah Al Isra (17:28)

وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ابْتِغَاءَ رَحْمَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّيْسُورًا ‎  

  ﴿ ‏       الإسراء: ٢٨

 

And if you [must] turn away from them [awaiting]mercyfrom your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word.

52 Surah Al Isra (17:57)

أُولَـٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا ‎‏

﴿ ‏  الإسراء: ٥٧

Those they call upon themselves seek means of access to their Lord, [striving as to] which of them would be nearest, and they hope for Hismercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is ever feared.

 53. Surah Al Isra (17:82)

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

﴿ ‏  الإسراء: ٨٢

And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing andmercyfor the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.

 54 Surah Al Isra (17:87)

إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًا ‎‏

﴿ ‏  الإسراء: ٨٧

Except as amercyfrom your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.

55.Surah Al Isra (17:100)

قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَائِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذًا لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ الْإِنفَاقِ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ قَتُورًا

﴿ ‏  الإسراء: ١٠٠

Say, "If you possessed the depositories of themercyof my Lord, then you would withhold out of fear of spending." And ever has man been stingy.

56.Surah Al Khaf (18:10)

إِذْ أَوَى الْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى الْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ  رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا ‎‏

﴿ ‏  الكهف: ١٠

[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourselfmercyand prepare for us from our affair right guidance."

57.Surah Al Khaf (18:16)

 

وَإِذِ اعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا اللَّهَ فَأَوُوا إِلَى الْكَهْفِ يَنشُرْ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَحْمَتِهِ وَيُهَيِّئْ لَكُم مِّنْ أَمْرِكُم مِّرْفَقًا ‏

﴿ ‏  الكهف: ١٦

And when you have withdrawn from them and that which they worship other than Allah, retreat to the cave. Your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility.

58.Surah Al Khaf (18:58)

 

وَرَبُّكَ الْغَفُورُ ذُو الرَّحْمَةِ لَوْ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابَ بَل لَّهُم مَّوْعِدٌ لَّن يَجِدُوا مِن دُونِهِ مَوْئِلًا ‎

﴿ ‏  الكهف: ٥٨

And your Lord is the Forgiving, full ofmercy.If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. But for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.

59.Surah Al Khaf (18:65)

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا ‎

﴿ ‏  الكهف: ٦٥

And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom We had givenmercyfrom Us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.

60.Surah Al Khaf (18:82)

 

 

وَأَمَّا الْجِدَارُ فَكَانَ لِغُلَامَيْنِ يَتِيمَيْنِ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَكَانَ تَحْتَهُ كَنزٌ لَّهُمَا وَكَانَ أَبُوهُمَا صَالِحًا فَأَرَادَ رَبُّكَ أَن يَبْلُغَا أَشُدَّهُمَا وَيَسْتَخْرِجَا كَنزَهُمَا رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَمَا فَعَلْتُهُ عَنْ أَمْرِي ذَٰلِكَ تَأْوِيلُ مَا لَمْ تَسْطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًا ‎‏

﴿ ‏  الكهف: ٨٢

And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as amercyfrom your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience.
